Privacy Policy

In one line: Homeko collects nothing. Your data stays on your device — and, if you turn on iCloud, in your own private iCloud. We never see it.

Homeko (褒め子) ("the App") is an offline, local-first learning journal for children aged 6–12, used together by a parent and child. We designed it so that your data never reaches us and no account is required (no account with us — iCloud is your own Apple account).

Information we collect

None. Homeko does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. There is no account, login, email, or phone number; no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and no tracking. Everything you enter — child names, avatars, learning activities, milestones, reflections, and photos you attach — is stored only in the app's private storage on your device (and, if you use the widget, your own App Group container). We never see it.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

Homeko is intended for use by parents with their children. Because we collect no personal information from anyone — including children under 13 — Homeko complies with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Purchases and settings are placed behind a parental gate (a math challenge) so children cannot make changes or buy anything without an adult.

iCloud sync (optional)

If you are signed into iCloud, Homeko can sync your data across your own devices using Apple's CloudKit in your private iCloud database. This data lives in your iCloud account under your Apple ID — we operate no server and never receive or see it. Sync stays entirely between your own devices. You can turn iCloud off for Homeko in iOS Settings; deleting the app removes its local copy. Apple's handling of iCloud is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

GDPR (EU/EEA/UK)

Homeko processes no personal data on any server of ours and stores everything locally under your sole control, so there is no processing of your information by us. You can edit or delete any entry, export your data (Homeko Pro), or delete the app to remove everything. No data is transferred to us; if you use iCloud, data syncs only within your own private iCloud (Apple's infrastructure under your Apple ID).

APPI (Japan) / PDPD (Vietnam) & other regions

The same principle applies under Japan's APPI, Vietnam's Personal Data Protection Decree (PDPD 13/2023/NĐ-CP), and comparable laws: Homeko performs no collection, processing, or cross-border transfer of personal data. All handling is local and user-controlled.

Photos

If you attach a photo to a milestone, Homeko uses the system photo picker. The selected image is resized and saved locally in the app's storage. Homeko does not request full photo-library access and never uploads your photos.

Notifications

If you enable Gentle Reminders, notifications are scheduled on-device by iOS. No notification content is sent to any server. You can turn reminders off anytime in the Parent Zone or iOS Settings.

Payments (In-App Purchase)

In-app purchases (Homeko Pro, Homeko Cosmetics) are processed by Apple via the App Store. Homeko never receives your payment details. Entitlement is verified on-device only.

Data retention & deletion

Your data lives on your device until you delete it. Delete individual entries in the app, or delete the app to erase everything. We hold no copies.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and publish the new version on this page.
